Now that Apple’s “Let’s Rock” is gone many of us (including myself) are looking forward to the next big thing on Apple’s horizon and that would be a bump to the notebook lineup. Currently I have three Macs; 17″ MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5, and a MacPro (my favorite being the MacBook Pro) which accompanies me when I travel.

It’s been a while since the MacBook Pro has received a major update. Obviously the Mac will have a faster processor, most likely a larger hard drive, I’m also hoping for longer battery life, and it would be great if we got an improved video card. I’m betting that Apple will have a special event devoted to the release just as though they had for the iPhone and the iPod but that could be just wishful thinking on my part.

I’m not one to purchase a product as soon as it is released. I’ve had my current 17″ MacBook Pro for almost two years now. I purchased it at the online Apple store. It was customized so has all the bells and whistles I’m definitely looking for the new MacBook Pro’s since I’m in need of a replacement. My MacBook Pro has done an excellent job and rarely has given me trouble and I use it several hours daily.

It will be hard saying goodbye to my “old friend” however it’s not going far, my five-year old daughter will be receiving it. She’s in kindergarten, and she has a computer class. She’s already familiar with computers I started getting her familiar with them when she was three years old.

Interesting how much we are dependent on technology. Today marks my return to Maryland. My daughter and I have been vacationing in South Carolina for the past week. I’m a business owner, and a freelance writer so staying on top of my email is important even when I’m taking a break.

The funny thing is I wasn’t able to get access to the internet from the waterfront condo. I loaded up my 17″ MacBook Pro and traveled a mile away to a Wi-Fi hotspot and I was on. I was surprised (and relieved) that they had a hotspot that close. I vacation in a rural part of South Carolina at least twice yearly the majority of my correspondence requires an internet connection. I respond to clients, write articles, and am alerted when my customers and clients pay me online.

Not too much of my vacation was spent working. I actually took time to enjoy myself, rest, and have fun.

One thing I dislike about RPG’s is the repetition it takes to reach the next level as I play the game I’m always thinking about more than the images I’m seeing displayed on the screen m mind travels to the amount of code that is going on behind the pixels to make everything work so smoothly. Yeah I’m nuts.

Later this weekend I’m going to run a script on a selected game to avoid all that mind-numbing repetition, and now I’m not going to do it with WOW since I know you aren’t allowed to do it and yes they will give you the boot if they catch you; however, there are other games whose rules aren’t as strict as WOW, in that regards so it will give me a chance to play around with code.

I took my daughter to Chuck E Cheese’s this morning, and she asked me, “Mommy, are you going to bring your MacBook Pro?” I’ve taken it a few times; however, this time it stayed home but a few of my programming books along with my latest edition of Mac|Life magazine accompanied me.

My daughter is five years old and now is at that stage where she does not want mommy following her around as she plays games. She wants me to sit down and watch her play. You know how hard that is? I love games. I do think my daughter is going to be gamer just like her mom. She was racking up the points on the arcade games. The best of both worlds just like myself she loves her video games but she also loves being outdoors.

I have to admit I’m getting excited about the upcoming WWDC. I’ve been following the blogs, news sources very closely, checking out the “leaked iPhone photos” that are starting to crop up about the rumored device. This Monday I’ll be covering part of the event for one of the websites that I write for via live streaming. The editor has secured spots for us because it will fill very quickly.

I’m hoping that the iPhone 2 is finally made available to other carriers. I travel to a part of South Carolina where AT&T coverage really sucks. I use Verizon, if it weren’t for that I would have bought an iPhone a few months after it was released.

I’m looking forward to an updated MacBook Pro however I’m not planning on seeing a major update later this year. I’m a late switcher so won’t be making the leap to a new MacBook until a few months after it has been released.

Earlier today I heard back from an online ezine. Technology; of course, more specifically Apple. A few weeks ago I had applied for a position. It’s another technology website and yes I’ll be writing about Apple related products. I’m looking forward to the opportunity. The first three posts are trial post. Although I enjoy writing for the other technology website I would like to have more variety and writing for this new website would definitely give me that opportunity. I’ve known about the website for several months.

Recently, I’ve been thinking about updating my MacBook Pro. I’m holding off until the major update, and then I’ll wait for a few more months. I’m not an early adaptor. I wait until the clean up the bugs before I’ll spend the money. My five-year old daughter keeps asking me when I’ll purchase a new MacBook Pro since she is eagerly looking to score my old one.

I’ll be actually sad to move onto a new computer, imagine that, but at least it isn’t going to far. My daughter, Aiyana, does most of her work on a HP dv6000t. Which she affectionately has christened “Zizzy”.

Blizzard, the maker of extremely popular games like WOW, Diablo II, and Starcraft are now offering digital downloads for their games. It’s about time! The thing is they already were offering digital downloads for WOW and the Burning Crusade. At the time, I downloaded them I remember wondering why they didn’t offer this for all their titles. It’s better late than never, right?

I’m noticing that more companies are offering digital downloads for their software, and I’m one of the people that will happily take a digital download to a hard copy any day. Blizzard gas definitely looked out for Mac gamers all the World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft are available to Mac users. Diablo was my first time playing a RPG video game. I found it addictive, and it kept me occupied for many hours. The years have passed and although I still have my copy of the game I lost the CD key. It looks like I’ll be getting a Digital Download of Diablo. You can log onto the Blizzard website and purchase and download your own game.

Apple has updated the MacBook Pro and their MacBook lineup. The MacBook Pro was getting quite long in the tooth and in desperate need of an update. This, by far has been the longest gap we’ve seen between updates.

The new Intel core 2 duo processors are included in the update, and we are also seeing the multi-touch trackpad make its way into the Pro lineup. Multi-touch was first revealed in the iPhone, and it carried over to the iPod touch. We saw it emerge for the first time in the Mac lineup. It was featured in the MacBook Air. Seeing this feature added to the MacBook Pro was a no brainer. The signs were there. Also Steve Jobs has stated that multi-touch would find its was into other Apple products.

The MacBook’s didn’t receive as impressive an update but if you remember it was updated towards the end of last year. I’ll be purchasing a MacBook Pro, but personally I’m going to wait until there is a major update. I’m guessing that will happen sometime this summer. I’m not an early adapter so I’ll bide my time and purchase my updated MacBook Pro a few months after they are released. I’m impressed with the updates that I’ve seen in the MacBook Pro update, but I’ll still hold out until a major update. My 17″ MacBook Pro is still my favorite computer and will be my faithful companion until I replace it with a newer model.

WOW Is a Massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It differs from most games that I play because I have to be online to play it. I’ve wanted to write a review on it for some time, and a free trial copy was a perfect excuse for me to try it out for myself. I’m a big fan of The Elder Scrolls series and World of Warcraft remind me a lot of Oblivion although it seems to be a lot bigger. Thinking of how massive Oblivion is that doesn’t seem possible.

Instead of playing solo you have the option of playing with other users within the game. I think that is very cool. I created three characters. I mainly play a female dark elf. Currently my dark elf is a level 13 hunter. Her best friend and faithful companion is her loyal Night stalker saber, Alira.

Although I’ve participated in a few groups and helped others out when I knew, they would have been killed I’m enjoying my (mainly) solo experience. I have joined a guild but to be honest I really haven’t participated. I might at some point but at the moment I’m having fun exploring the massive world on my own and chatting with people I meet during my journey. Interestingly enough I’ve stumbled across others high level characters that mainly play solo and are enjoying their experience. I was under the impression you had to join a guild.

Jason of Pineleasehed: Tech to the Face recently wrote a post about WOW. I had asked him a few questions about WOW, and he was extremely helpful. I’m thinking about writing a review about WOW on the technology website where I write at the moment I’m thinking of the angle that I want to use.

Taking a break from the many things that fill my day such as family, my business, writing, working out can be tough but one way I’ve always liked to unwind was playing a game. Since I’ve installed WOW on my 17″ MacBook Pro, I really have no reason not to play. No, I’m not getting sucked into the wonderful world of WOW. I give myself a certain amount of time to play and once I reach that limit. That’s it, no more gameplay.

Although I wasn’t planning on continuing to play the game after the trial elapsed I most likely will simply because I find it to be a nice way to take a break. My daughter has taken over my Xbox 360 which has brought to an end, for the most part, my gaming on that. My MacBook Pro is still one domain she hasn’t claimed.
