Technology: Staying Connected

Interesting how much we are dependent on technology. Today marks my return to Maryland. My daughter and I have been vacationing in South Carolina for the past week. I’m a business owner, and a freelance writer so staying on top of my email is important even when I’m taking a break.

The funny thing is I wasn’t able to get access to the internet from the waterfront condo. I loaded up my 17″ MacBook Pro and traveled a mile away to a Wi-Fi hotspot and I was on. I was surprised (and relieved) that they had a hotspot that close. I vacation in a rural part of South Carolina at least twice yearly the majority of my correspondence requires an internet connection. I respond to clients, write articles, and am alerted when my customers and clients pay me online.

Not too much of my vacation was spent working. I actually took time to enjoy myself, rest, and have fun.

WWDC 08: The Countdown begins

I have to admit I’m getting excited about the upcoming WWDC. I’ve been following the blogs, news sources very closely, checking out the “leaked iPhone photos” that are starting to crop up about the rumored device. This Monday I’ll be covering part of the event for one of the websites that I write for via live streaming. The editor has secured spots for us because it will fill very quickly.

I’m hoping that the iPhone 2 is finally made available to other carriers. I travel to a part of South Carolina where AT&T coverage really sucks. I use Verizon, if it weren’t for that I would have bought an iPhone a few months after it was released.

I’m looking forward to an updated MacBook Pro however I’m not planning on seeing a major update later this year. I’m a late switcher so won’t be making the leap to a new MacBook until a few months after it has been released.

Avot mV: Watch Free videos with Avot mV

Avot Media, Inc. has released a new application called Avot mV (beta.)

Avot mV

What is Avot mV?
Avot mV brings videos to my mobile phone. I’m a music junkie and always have some type of music playing whether it’s classical, jass, rock, soul, alternative, etc., with the Avot mV application I can watch numerous videos from video sharing websites, such as You Tube, Google, etc, or regular internet websites.

The amount of videos you have to choose from are seemingly endless regardless of what you prefer Avot mV will be able to find the videos that you want to watch. If you have a specific video you want to search for you would go to the Featured Page and type in the name that you want to search for just like your regular browser.

I’m able to manage my videos into playlists. I like the fact that I can watch them from anywhere as long as I have my mobile phone. If I want to I can turn my mobile phone into an entertainment jukebox just like I’ve done with my ipod. Avot MV offers direct streaming of the videos so you don’t have to worry about the quality of the video degrading once it’s transferred to your mobile phone.

Excellent Photo Quality: Avot mV Does Not Require Video Transcribing

I dislike poor quality videos I don’t have to worry about that with Avot mV. Avot mV provides direct streaming from the original content provider which insures that the quality of the video will be clear.

What Devices are Supported?

  1. Windows Mobile 5.0
  2. Pocket PC
  3. Smart Phone Mobile

Avot Media, Inc. is constantly adding support for different devices and operating systems.

How Much Does It Cost?

That’s the best part you don’t have to pay to download and use the software it’s free. When you log onto the Avot Mobile Site you are greeted with a clean interface, just the way I like it. I really like the simple grey, black, and red design. It’s not distracting and the great thing is I’m able to find the information that I want without hunting around for it. You can stay up to date with what’s going on with Avot mV by checking the Avot Blog. I would update this more often and even add a blog to their main website so all the information is one place.

What Are You Waiting For?

Log onto Avot mV today and download this free application, point your browser to the Avot Mobile Site you’ll be searching for your favorite videos, or discovering new ones in no time. Avot mVis the perfect solution for watching your videos from your mobile device.
