AOL For Mac OS X
This past week I was vacationing in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. I brought my MacBook Pro along I figured I would check my work emails daily; however, I could not access the condo’s internet. I called the owner and found out that they have been having problems with their broadband connection they aren’t sure when it will be fixed. I decided to pick up an AOL CD at the local WalMart. The fact that I did this shows how desperate I was I used AOL back in the mid 90’s and wasn’t too pleased with their service. I checked the packaging to make sure I could use it for my Mac. I could.
I went back to the condo confident that I would be online in no time. I wasn’t. I wasn’t getting the set up screen let alone the “Install This” button that was supposed to appear. I called AOL’s tech support, and they confirmed what I suspected. The CD had been mislabeled.
I had brought along my HPdv6000t for backup. I went out and purchased a modem for that. Guess what? I still couldn’t get online. It seems the condo uses digital for their phone line and the modem I selected only used audio. Now I could have gone back to the store and picked up the correct modem, but I took the hint and just took it easy.
I haven’t used dial up for several years it will be interesting to see how much that, and AOL has changed. I’ll check out my websites using AOL’s dialup I have some readers that still use dialup it will be interesting to see how quickly my websites load on using dialup.

I avoided them for a long time since it was a new system. I’m glad I made that leap and made the purchase.
