iPod Nano: The 3rd Generation of Ipod Nano is Here!

3rd Generation ipod nano

I knew something looked different when I logged into the Apple website this morning. I haven’t been on Apple’s website in several days. The ipod nano looked, well squished. It didn’t look anything like my 2nd generation iPod nano. Hmm, I wonder what’s going on here? I checked back later and was greeted by the advertisement above. iPod has made an upgrade. Welcome the 3rd gen iPod!

Personally I like my 2nd generation a lot better than this iPod nano. The main reason I purchased the 2nd gen Nano was because of its sleek design. I use that ipod exclusively with my workouts. I knew it was only a matter of time before you could play video on the Nano. I like the fact that you can play video on this, but the look will take some getting used to.

I had the iPod nano, but I passed it over to my father. I actually did watch videos on that. I’m happy that they have carried the metal backing into the third generation. That was the main reason I bought the second generation nano. I really liked that feature.

I wonder how long before Apple uses a touch screen like the iPhone? Maybe we’ll see that in the next gen iPod nano? One of the many things I like about Apple they always seem to stay a step of ahead of technology. Not only are their products pleasing to look at they also perform well.

Endicia For Mac 2.5? I Believe I’m Sold

Endicia For Mac

If your a business owner like myself, or you just send out a lot of mail. You might want to check out the Endicia for Mac 2.5. Stamps.com who doesn’t offer support for the Mac OS. However after looking at both services thoroughly today I would have to say that Endicia offers everything that Stamps.com has, and it has additional features.

I promise to write a long post about this after I’ve used this feature for a while however you can make you way to my main website Vegan Momma and check out my post Endicia for Mac: I’m checking out Endicia.com. I will say I do like the fact that delivery confirmation is free. As a small business owner I can definitely appreciate that feature.

I’m also liking the fact that priority class delivery confirmation is free. It gets better First-class Delivery confirmation is a lot less than what I pay through the United States Postal Service with Endicia I’m only paying 0.18! That’s a huge difference from USPS!

Today I searched the blogosphere and read many review by other Mac lovers, many of them business owners themselves that really are enjoying Endicia For Mac. There were some who had used Stamps.com and purchased a “throw away” Windows PC just so they could use a mail at home service. I guess they were like me the didn’t want to put the Windows Os on their Mac.

Did you know you can get boxes free from the USPS? It’s true you do have to register at USPS but sign up is free once you have completed registration make your way over and check out the USPS free boxes you can receive and while you are there check out the USPS free forms and labels. I ordered several this weekend. You don’t have to be a business owner to take advantage of this offer so check it out!

Apple Drops The Price Of The iPhone Current iPhone Customers Will Be Compensated

Steve Jobs with iPhone

I wasn’t surprised when I heard about the price drop of the $599 priced iPhone. Yes the $599 iphone is now priced at $399. One thing that I don’t think that some customers realize is that Apple does offer price protection. If Apple decides to lower the price within ten calendar days of you purchasing a product you can receive credit.

Steve Jobs wrote an open letter to all iPhone customers you can read about it on Apple’s website. The letter is written To All iPhone customers.

Third, even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.

Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned.

As Steve Jobs stated technology is always changing the same thing happened a few months after I had purchased my 17″ MacBook Pro. If my computer weren’t customized I could have turned it in and upgraded to a the newer line Core 2 Duo, however; I had already grown to love my MacBook Pro so even if it weren’t customized the chance of me trading up to the Core 2 Duo most likely would not have happened.

Although it’s just a “store credit” it’s great that they are thinking of their customers. That’s yet another reason why I stand behind Apple’s so strongly, excellent quality, great customer service, and I actually think that they care about their customer at least that is the impression I have received each time I’ve had to interact with Apple. This type of attention will keep me a loyal fan for years to come.

Help! My Mac is overheating

Thankfully I haven’t had a problem with my MacBook Pro overheating even when running applications such as Final Cut Express HD, Aperture 1.5, or Photoshop.

My Mac is Overheating What Do I Do?

If you are looking for a solution that will help you cool down your Mac you might want to check out smcFanControl 2.1.2 as of this writing that’s the latest, an greatest, release. As I mentioned I haven’t had this problem If I play a movie, which is rare, it will get a little warmer. If I have it setting on my lap but I don’t have it setting on my lap when I’m watching a movie.

However, I will download SMCFanControl 2.1.2 and install it on my MacBook Pro. I’ll update once I have played a movie. We’ll see whether it is cooler. The reason why I decided to include this application for people to check out I have heard so many positive things about it from a variety of Mac related forums.

How Do I Right Click On A Mac?

MacBook Pro trackpad

If you come from a Windows OS and find yourself on a Mac you might be wondering how in the world do you right click on the Apple Mac? After reading Thomas - Technical Blogger’s post about Civility and Blog Comments I thought I would post this short tutorial. I thought I had already posted this.

I rarely use right click but if you are curious as to what you need to do you might want to check the tutorial I’ve included below.

How Do I Right Click On A Mac?

  1. Hold down the ctrl key
  2. Click on the trackpad or click on your mouse (I use the mighty mouse) while you are still holding down on the ctrl key.

That’s it! You now can right click on your trackpad or mouse!
The above works on any Mac OS.

How Do I Configure The Right Click Button On My Mighty Mouse?

Mac Os X Main Menu

  • From the main menu click on System Preferences

Mac OSX

  • Select Keyboard & Mouse

Mac OS X Secondary Mouse Button

  • Select Mouse
  • Select the right mouse button as the secondary mouse button.
  • Congrats you now have right click on your mouse.

If you’re new to the Mac please check out my Mac Resources page. There you’ll find links to a variety of Mac related forums. As a new Mac user I was able to log onto the forums, search, or ask questions when I did not know the answer.  I found the people to be very helpful.  It’s hard to believe that next month will mark a year that I’ve been using my MacBook Pro.

My MacBook Pro is not going to perform the same way as my HP Dv6000t.  They use two different operating systems. I should not be surprised that it won’t do the same things as the Windows OS?  Remember they won’t be exactly the same.

Here’s something to think about if  you complain about how the Mac OS isn’t like your Windows OS  you really don’t give yourself a chance to fully appreciate the fabulous things that the Mac has to offer.  Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance when you are working with a new operating system.

I bought my father a PowerMac G5 about a week after I purchased my MacBook Pro, although I was a newbie myself, he contacted me often in the beginning.  He wanted to know how to use his OS.  How did I learn? I googled and found the answers to all of my questions. If you purchased the product from Apple log onto their tech support, or give them a call.  I had to call them this past April and the technician I spoke to was very knowledgeable and was able to assist me.
