The Mac Diva Has Moved To Another Server

Last night I moved The Mac Diva & Ferrets Haven to another server.  I’m still at the same url just a different server location.  I still have some things to do I need to move the pictures, but so far everything went smoothly I forgot to put my old template back so you might have been greeted with the standard Wordpress Template.

A lot has been going on in The Mac Diva land, and I took a small break from writing so I could spend time hanging out with my daughter and thinking of ways to enhance this website.  I shall be posting by Monday.

Snapz Pro X

Snap Z Pro X My September edition of Mac|Life has arrived in the mail, and I’ll be reading it from cover to cover. I was happy to see that Snapz Pro X had an ad in the Mac|Life magazine. This would be perfect application for me since it will let me create movie tutorials and show demos of projects that I have created.

I’m planning to give test it out. I’m wondering how long the free trial will last. If I decide to purchase the software it will cost $69. If I like it I’ll definitely buy it and write about it.

The good news is that Snapz Pro X is now a Universal Binary that runs natively on PowerPC and Intel Macs.

1password: One Password to Rule Them All!

1PasswdI’ve reached my limit. My brain cannot remember any new passwords. Currently I have at least fifty stored in my memory but recently when I attempted to add more my brain has not been cooperating.

I find when I try to log into a newer website (where I’m a member) my brain draws a blank. In the past I’ve attempted to type in several passwords before I finally admit defeat. I then request a new password. What’s a Mac Diva to do? Sighs!

A few days ago I was doing my daily “everything Mac related visits” when a tiny blurb caught my eye. Hmm, it said something about password let me slow down and see what this is. What’s this 1password?

The-One-Ring

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Whoops my fault I cannot get Lord of the Rings out of my head.

I eagerly logged onto the website to learn more. They had a video (which I’ve listed above) available so I watched it. I was very impressed. The price wasn’t bad, $29.95 but I wanted to try before I bought it. I guess the developers are used to dealing with people like myself. I was pleased to see that I was able to and download and try it out for free. Once you download you do have a limited amount of time that you can try it out before it tells you “No, I cannot fill out that info until you start handing over those digits (CC or paypal.) Alright it doesn’t actually say that but you still have to fork over the money! I got that message this morning and, after using it overnight I was more than happy to pay the $29.95.

1Passwd-password-geenerator

If you don’t want to create your own password you can take advantage of their strong password generator. You can go crazy with it since the password can be up to 50 characters. Sweet!

Why Do I Like 1Passwd

  1. Manages hundred of Passwords
  2. Automatic form filler
  3. Protects against identity theft
  4. OSx keychain integration to provide maximum security
  5. Blocks out keyloggers from accessing and recording your passwords and credit cards

One password to control them all. I like that!

Apple Discounts

This past October I finally logged onto the Apple Store and purchased my MacBook Pro. Guess what I could knock a significant amount off the price I paid with a discount. You can find the discounts at Apple Store for Education. They also have a State and Local Government Employee Discount.

Originally, my MacBook Pro would have cost over $3000 since it was customized however, since I’m back Read the rest of this entry »
